This thing about offense only seems to work one way! Imagine if the priest had asked one of the visiting muslims to remove their Burkah because he found it offensive.....................it's time we opened our eyes a bit wider and saw all this for what it actually is..the undermining of identity.

Belle .....I think it is reporting bias ....(for effect).

Tolerance is "operating" all the time  ......Isolated events  are being "brought to our notice"...... I wonder why ?

No different than UTC (world coordinated time) instead of GMT by the science community. If someone wants to use Common Era why not?  It is accurate and carries no religious bias, surely a worthy usage? Nobody is forced to use it.

What grabs me today is that  Susan picks me up at 16:30 for our trip to the exhibition at Bradford. Much scrubbing up will have to be done! Many old friends to meet.....

PS. Jack is spending the evening at Susan's house with his mate Meg the retriever. That house will be well-guarded!

I have to report I am now the official snapper to the Karachi Restaurant on Neal Street in Bradford. They were delighted when I asked them if they were the decendants of the old Karachi Social Club I ate in over thirty years ago and asked me to do a lic to go with the one on the wall (Top left) that was taken then. The CD is in the post and the snappers on the site will be pleased to hear I sent them the RAW xcf file as well as the JPEG so they can print a nice pic.

The food is just as good now as it was then and not expensive, about a tenner each for as much as you could eat. No licence so take your own booze!

Daniel's exhibition is great and it was lovely to see the films we made ten years ago on the big screen. The show runs at the media gallery for five months. Well worth a view.

Air Ambulance over Barlick and Paramedic Ambulance racing down Fernlea Avenue about 11.20 today. Does not bode well for someone.

One of those news items which only insomniacs catch - the Danish government have put a tax on high fat foods  to discourage their use.  The list includes butter - high in saturated fat.   Lurpak anyone?........ Disouraged for them - encouraged for us.

We heard a lot of sirens between 10.30 and 11.00, though we didnt spot the air ambuance. The noises seemed to be coming more from the Kelbrook direction.

David, it amazes me how durable the canard about saturated fat still is. Long disproved but don't let the facts spoil a good scare story!

Trolls Gearce, ignore them. All swept up and banned. twenty minutes every morning, all part of the service that keeps us clean, the Mafia have their uses!

I get a visit this morning from a man called Kirk Burwell who runs a supply service for model engineers. I am giving him the patterns for the marine compound I am making and he's going to market it as 'Johnny Pickles version of the Bahrett engine that won second prize at the ME exhibition in 1922'. Making the patterns is the biggest expense and is the economic barrier to marketing complicated little castings like this. I'm pleased, Johnny gets a mention and more people will know what a good man he was. When he was buried Newton had "Engineer and master craftsman" carved on the gravestone. Just about right I reckon.

When Susan took me to Bradford on Friday I found that a film I had made was being shown on the big screen. As we watched it I found that Susan had never seen it (or the one Dan did for me) before so I've burned her a disc this morning so she can see them. Watching them again after all these years was great, we were doing good work and I nearly got into film-making in a serious way but life intervened as it so often does.

The exhibition is on at the media centre till February and if any of you go, press the select buttons on the wall for 'Film for Stanley' and 'Stanley's reply'  you might like them.... Ahh, Memory Lane, a good place to go for a walk every now and again!

The patient went off in a "land" ambulance. The Air Ambulance stayed on the ground for a while for photo opportunities with some local children...
