Cleared up here as well Belle. Glass risen to 29.3". A better day forecast but tomorrow not so good. That figures, I'm being kidnapped and taken to Winster.

Weather was kind to us yesterday. 29.1" this morning and overcast. Could be a shower or two I reckon.

Glass is going to be full by 11 am if this keeps up, and at a 45 degree angle to my lips!

Not a lot of summer about Belle. The low pressure over Norway is promoting a general NW air flow and giving us below average temperatures on top of the showers. Glass just below 29", flags damp, not the best summer's day I have seen. I was talking to a man about a job we have to do, inspecting a steam engine, in mid September and I realised with a shock that it's less than three weeks away! Winter is almost upon us! It reminds me of the old farmer up at Settle who once told me that they had six months winter and six months bad weather on the tops. Remember the long range predictions of a 'barbeque summer'?

Enjoying our first meaningful rain since February here on the east side of RH County - forecasters have occasionally prophesied a downpour but got now't until this afternoon - no doubt you're still going rusty in the West Craven area?

Only occasional showers Ted and one day of steady rain. Nearly put cardigan on last night. Perhaps I ought to put my vest back on, that should ensure a heat wave! Glass steady on 29", not exciting weather!

Beautiful sunny day here. Picked the last 14 Valencia Oranges from my tree a few minutes ago. Then spied that my Peach tree has sprouted it's first blossoms. Mandarines are finished now too...polished off the last of those last week. Very rewarding to grow our own fruit. Wish I had room to grow my own veg. Tomorrow looks like being a nice day too, with a slight return to cooler conditions and rain next week.
get your people to phone my people and we will do lunch...MAZ |

We lit the first fire of the season last night..we have all been ill and i think a day of just rain and falling temps proved too much!

Just come back from a week on the NE Coast at Seahouses near Bamborough. No rain all week until last night although weather forcast gave rain for most days through the week. The reality was the weather seemed to stop a Newcastle and leave us in a nice litte micro climate which was plenty warm enough for shorts and tee shirts for most days.

I put a padded shirt on Belle because it was too late to light a fire. No sign of any change, glass steady on 29". Shall I put my vest on?

Reports of snow on high ground in Scotland. Grass frost forecast for some areas tonight. Glass has risen slightly to 29.1" after I put a singlet on yesterday, expect Indian Summer within four days! I shall light a fire in front room this afternoon on the grounds that it is cool enough and it will do the flue good by drying it out. September looms together with my date with Mel and her friends in Barlick. Winter will shortly be upon us!

Just back from my walk and found the heating had kicked in while I was out. It comes on when house temperature on the landing falls to 18C and is accurate. Not summer!
