Belle, i do not want to start a war, but there is a difference between boys & girls, from experience there was always the "cock" of the school, and to usurp you had to beat him, ok, no killing but, i was involved in several scraps, biting, scratching, gouging, were all part of the course, if we had had weapons we probably would have killed if we had known how, the only way a scrap ended was with submission. so in given circumstances, in anger, revenge etc. there is a gene that kicks in in a lot of males.

Bradders Secret means what ?? I do know you haven't a clue what it means.

and Yes I have signed the Official Secrets Act, bet Thomo has to.
Did you look up Professor Wilkinson at St Andrews yet ??
Because you don't understand Insurgency and Counter Insurgency Tactics why do you think everything on the subject is Secret ?? More books have been written on the subject in the past couple of years than I can count.
The web is a fantastic tool to follow world affairs, you should use it sometimes.
Me a spook don't talk silly. Oh and I only said the paper was Secret not an Official Secret !!!! do you need me to explain the difference ??

Frank is correct, I did sign, and I, just like He, knows what that means, one other thing, you cannot contract out either.

Peter Falk is dead. I wonder if he'll be buried in his raincoat?I once met a bloke who had a pet duck that liked to watch Colombo, that's right Belle, the duck.

Conrad Black gaoled for three and a half years in the US.  His lawyers will no doubt be working on the appeal as I write.

Frank knows more than Jock Stirrup. Breathtaking!

And nobody is saying it is, it does however come with certain obligations.

What I do know is that, I know more than you do about the current situation in Afghanistan, that I know for sure
You need to get out a bit more and look around instead of being stuck in your kitchen reading about the past. A whole New World has opened up and it has passed you by.
I wonder when Jock last talked to anyone below Major level, and asked them their views ?? You seem to think if they have General in their title they know what they are talking about, that is a very misplaced thought.

Like not revealing the very existance of certain documents.....?

This little saga is getting better.....

Firstly Pugwash says he is going to send someone a document "when it's published " , but has already managed to read it .....

Then it's secret , then it's not  , and now it is again !

Meanwhile Seaman Stains , here, is presumed to be too thick to understand the written word , and not to have signed the Official Secrets Act .....Both observations may or may not  be true , but it is crass, to say the least , to make them without any foundation .

I will say it once more . This looks like  " The Ballad of Skipton Castle "  all over again  .....

If you must make derogatory remarks, then kindly make them in understandable English. I do not know if you have signed the OSA but there is a valid reason why some of us have, and that is our business and no one elses. Some people no doubt gain in one way or another from "leaking" information and it is now an all too common event, I am not one of these parasites, and I am sure that Frank isnt either. If Nolic or anyone else has signed the OSA its their business and no one elses. This all has nothing to do with James Bond, Pugwash or Seaman Stains, it is a part of someones life, and like it or not, its there for a reason.

Look Bradders what do you want me to say ?? I have read a document that was given to me by the Author who said it was secret until it was published. I then said when it is published I would send a copy to Stanley.I know the author very well and I can't reveal his position or I would have a problem with him. What this guy dosen't know about Afghanistan is not worth knowing.
Now you have gone off on the Official Secrets Act etc, the document is a Dissertation on Insurgency and  Counter Insurgency. If you wasn't looking to pick holes something you do on a regular basis you would have seen  I gave you a clue in the Professor Wilkinson lead , but no you just wanted to show how clever you are.

Oh by the way I believe Pugwash to be a character of high standing thank you for that accolade.
Have a nice weekend it's Armed Forces day today, and I have  things to do and people to visit. If your playing the streets of Edinburgh I will give you a wave as I pass by.
I edited this because I got sucked into the personal comments.

Bradders, I'm not saying this in defence of Frank, he's more than capable of defending himself and I may or may not agree with his views...but I want to point out that you are digging yourself into an ever-deeper hole and for no useful purpose. Frank has only said he can't give Stanley a copy until after publication. That's quite reasonable. Having been a publisher of journals and books myself I would expect an author or reviewer or advisor etc (i.e. anyone with access to the manuscript before publication) not to distribute copies of the content until after publication, and even then only with the permission of the copyright holder. Reviewers are generally anonymous and therefore it would be correct for Frank to agree to your suggestion of the word `secret'.
