Spanish chicken tonight - I tried one of the new Swartz (spelling!!) mixes last night with the lamb stew, it was delicious.

I was digging in a cupboard the other day and realised I still had one of those Chinese cast iron frying pans which I had forgotten. You mentioned Spanish chicken Moh. That triggered me into remembering Spanish omelettes and I haven't made one for years because I finish them off by putting them under the grill to make sure they are cooked through and the top is browned. My present expensive frying pan has a non-oven proof handle so I have never risked doing that with it. Now there's a thought! Must look in Delia and remind myself how I made them.

Changed my mind and did it in a lemon, chilli and coriander sauce - very good but overdid the chilli slightly. Pot roast of brisket tonight, just put it in to slow cook on a bed of garlic and red onion.

Grabbed what I thought was a lump of pork out of the freezer. I was going to do it in cider in the P cooker but I think it's a lump of mutton from Trawden. Lots of fat so I've put it in the top-oven/grill on a low setting and I'll leave it to argue with itself and decide later what I'm having.

You really do need some sort of labelling system in that freezer of yours, Stanley.

Salad Rolls tonight. Too hot for anything else. (we find we have had Salad Rolls quite a bit lately, and they seem enough for an evening meal. Maybe our tummies are shrinking? Febby says he has lost weight over summer, but I dont know how much I weighed at the beginning of Summer so I am not sure if I have. It wouldn't be much if I have!)

Harvested a container of Peaches from my tree this morning. Ive been eating them for days, so I stewed this lot. They are deliciously sweet and juicy.
We will have Valencia Oranges in a few months too. They are coming along well and are about the size of golf balls at present.

No Maz, that would take all the fun out of it! It turned out to be a small, very fatty piece of Dexter beef. Nice butty last night and another today. Bones rendered down and there will be some beef and veg soup.

I've steamed some Chicken Breast this afternoon. I shall slice it thinly and put it on Sour Dough Bread, cover it with sliced Advocado and Mozarella Cheese and into the oven for ten minutes. Otherwise known as Chicken, Cheese and Advocado Melts.
Makes a change to a Salad Sarnie...

I feel guilty saying this Moh, but I have single-handedly eaten the entire container of Peaches I stewed (it's a wonder I am not typing this from the loo !) I cannot stop myself when it comes to summer fruits....Apricots, Peaches, Nectarines, Cherries, Plums...down the hatch!
I think tomorrows harvest will clear the rest of the fruit on that tree, but I shall have to stew some of them.
Makes them last longer....at least that is the theory. But boy, do I blow that one out of the water.

We had fish & chips at the Cottage fish & chip shop in Marton (nr. Blackpool) yesterday. I felt a bit queasy on the way home, but poor hubby was physically sick - won't go there again although it has a really good reputation. Toad in the Hole tonight.
