Not a stack, but a fair sized gob,

Nice pic Bodge. And yes, I've always made a mental connection between the felling of these big trees and jacking. I think this pic is one of Darius Kinsey's. A lot of his pics are in a book called 'This Was Logging' by Ralph W Andrews,

If you want a copy look at this LINK. Awonerful read and sad to see what they did to these giants.

I've been thinking about the lads for the last day or two. No respite in sight Tipp and it's going to get colder. November has arrived at last! Contact Young Tom, he will know where to hole up!

Not a chimney but, but i suppose the construction would be similar  apart from stone blocks not bricks,

You mean there were pubs in Shaw?!  What are the regs these days, does some poor bugger have to climb the stack with an anemometer? Peter always said that if the flaps of his old army jerkin were moving it was too windy.

Got an enquiry yesterday from the owner of this stack at Dale End Mill Lothersdale. She wanted a reliable jack. Gave her Warbuton's number....  Did I do right?

That's two possible leads I have generated for you. Did you see the one about Robert and Masson? He needs a jack.

If anyone on this thread is thinking about buying it, you can get it for more than Five quid cheaper from the publisher, Lulu. com. It's also funny that the seller claims to have Ten copies available, when less than that number have been sold.lolol

All well at this end, are you busy?
