Just showed flooding in N. Lancs. & Cumbria on news.  Homes in Clitheroe without electric after  wires came down in the winds.

Tree Surgeon , Belle !
Just got back from a canter up the lane with Dexter.....Clearish sky with a Half Moon and middling sized clouds fairly scudding across West to East
(Quite spectaclier !)

Glass dropped even further yesterday. Wet walk early but just managed to dodge the rain up Letcliffe at noon. Glass rising again at 28.8". Dry during night but started raining at 4am.

One for you Brad. I always let Jack out for a pee when I get up and if it's raining, let him go on his own. This morning he didn't come back so in the end I chucked a coat on and set off up the back street to see where he was. Had a sudden thought and looked in through kitchen wimdow. You've guessed it, he was in his chair, ears pricked, wondering what the hell I was doing. I swear that dog is the forest ghost! If ever I can't find him the first thing I do is look behind me. Black dogs on dark mornings are a bugger!

Ha !....They don't like the rain much , do they Stanley !

When we're going out for the first time in the morning , Dexter gets quite excited.......I open the door and he rushes out ......

If it's chucking it down , he stops dead after about the first yard and  turns his head round to look at me, as if it's MY fault !
......and I'm quite sure he says  "Oh Bollocks " !

I know you don't like those long retractable leads much , but with the stock in the fields all round us , it's still the only safe thing  for  the moment  .......
I got him an 8 meter version the other day, from the Hospice Shop,  (my tailor's) in Wadebridge ........and because it's 3 meters longer than his usual one ,  the first time we went out it was funny  . He shot off  "at bogart " as usual ,but before he got to the extremity of the lead, he stopped and looked round to see if I was still there  !

Re : Black dog /dark night .......Did I ever mention that we used to have a dappled grey mare that was a bit of a "B" to find on a winter's evening   ?.......She used to hide among the hawthorne hedges ...brilliant camouflage !

Belle, commiserations and I'm afraid no change today. Wet and raining at the moment. Good shed weather.

Brad, jack doesn't mind the rain if it's a walk but if he's just looking to see what's going on out in the yard he won't pass over the doorstep if it's raining. Sensible lad!

Glass trying to rise at 28.9". Dry at the moment but it will be showery I think. No signs of the Indian Summer!

CoolSorry folks, but down here on the shores of the Med. the summer seems to want to go on and on. Normally by now we will have had a few heavy thunderstorms; and then warm weather back again. This year no rain so far. Makes watering the garden a bit of a chore. Having said all that, June was not its usual flaming self until quite late on.

cheers,

cloggy
