If it's private land, which I believe it is, and it has a SORN on it there's not much that can be done. It could be reported as an environmental hazard which could provoke an enforcement order from the EA...

The point I was making about history Stanley, is that what has happened in the past cannot be altered. If we collectively harboured a passion for revenge against those who have tried to enforce their will on us over centuries we would be embroiled in an eternal conflict. We do not allow history to hold us back, even tradition changes to encompass the current mood. Some do not have the luxury of being able to move on, and are held back by history and tradition and are guided by those who will go to great lengths to keep it that way. In the disturbances that are taking place around the middle east it is easier for the people to take on the state than it would be to take on the tribal elders. Such people hold the population in their grip, it is that grip that needs to be broken.

Agreed Heather. Thanks for the clarification Kev. I understand it now.

Peter I never said history could be altered neither did I mention revenge. The best decisions are taken with the most complete knowledge and history can show us where mistakes were made in the past. Using the lessons of history we can avoid making the same mistakes.

What grabbed me last night was the most succinct explanation I have ever heard of the mechanism of an IMF bale-out.  Country gets into debt and has two alternatives. Either renege on debts or get an IMF bale-out. Renege and the currency collapses leaving an uphill struggle to get back to solvency. Take the bale-out money and pay the debts then pay back the IMF bale-out money. Interest rates cripple the economy and currency collapses. Difference is that in the first case everybody suffers including the bankers. With a bale-out the bankers are OK because the bale-out money saves them (This includes the foreign bankers who have arranged the IMF loan) The poorest suffer most and have the additional IMF money to pay back as well. So what's the advantage of the bale-out? It eases the plight of the banks. Who arranges the bale-out? The bankers, the financial markets govern what the IMF does. Simples!

I see that the end of the world has been delayed until the 21st October of this year. God in his wisdom decided to delay the event to give those of us who do not believe, time to repent instead of five months extra in hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

" Using the lessons of history we can avoid making the same mistakes ".
History has little relevance to to-day, I would agree it is nice to know But So many other factors have changed that make it all just a good story.
Communication is better, Weapons are more deadly, and We are better Educated.  Just back from France and really would you go over the top today, educated as your are like they did in 1917 ?? I think the answer to that would be No.

Are you saying that those who "went over the top"  were uneducated ?....

I think you'll find that they were following orders , and would have been shot if they didn't ....

Frank i think you might be contradicting yourself in the above statement surely if  we learn nothing from History we would indeed go "over the top" today?
