Too much cloud out to the west to see the eclipse of the moon unfortunately. There were 2 hares in the field, who met and chased each other about a bit before going off on their separate journeys. The cat & I enjoyed watching them instead of the eclipse as it got light.

We have NO SNOW  .....It's a bitterly cold  , beautiful day here .

Just spoke to a friend futher south , and they haven't any either ,although his wife is stuggling to get back from London...She was due to fly from Gatwick to Newquay this morning , and her flight was cancelled (I don't know the reason,  but the problem isn't at this end !)

"The big snow news ought to be the heavy fall heading for Mr and Mrs Tiz!"

Our worst was on the weekend, about 6 inches and -13 degrees at night, the M5 down to one lane. Locals around these parts always used to say it never snows here - in fact an oil rig man lived in this house in the 1970s because he knew he could always get to Bristol or Exeter airports. But times have changed!

Lots of folk complaining because the main roads are icy at night. They can't get their head round the fact that the salt only works down to about -9 degrees, below that the salty snow freezes.

I don't know whether it was colder or just the effect of a slight east wind but this morniong is the first day I have had face ache! Very cold and just about to go out again for an hour. Jack thinks it's wonderful.

The Heathrow "row" continues with world wide impact, apparently "slots" are being rationned out causing airlines to cancel flights.  My daughter's boyfriend was due to fly from Iraq via Turkey to Heathrow to Toronto on Wednesday, now is scheduled to fly from Turkey to Toronto to avoid Heathrow.  Still hundreds of folks at Toronto airport waiting to fly to UK.  One simple solution would be to use Manchester and avoid Heathrow to catch up.

East Coast of Canada has been lashed with heavy rain and high winds forcing cancellation of ferry services for at least 72 hours, so people are stranded all over by snow, rain and poor administrations.  Merry Christmas!

Hopefully there will be a Christmas miracle and everyone will end up where they want to be. You cant be angry at the weather like you can be at strikes that throw things into the same sort of chaos. (and there generally is some sort of transport strike the week before Christmas).

Perfect day here today. Blue skies and sunshine...mid 20'sC.
Febby due home from work at any moment, so he is officially on holidays from then. I think he is looking forward to putting his feet up.

Young Harry has three pairs of trousers on and tells me that there is hardly any snow in Derbyshire. He's happy, no complaints. Glass is still creeping up slowly. Guess what, about -10C? No let up in frost. Like Belle, we haven't had any more snow, it's just settled into a crapet about 4" deep where it's not been disturbed and still powdery. No good for snowmen or snowballs, it won't stick together but brilliant for sledging. Where do they all come from?

Was up near Lancaster yesterday. Not as much snow as us but still cold. Coming home about 4.30pm  -3C when I left Lancaster, - 11C coming down the Settle by-pass and -8C by the time I got home. Snow from Gisburn to Barrowford was worse than anywhere else on the journey. Nolic

Awww, lovely to see the Christmas decoration on the site.  Smile

Very nice day here, 28C, I think.

Came out of work, mind and body still going at a hundred miles an hour, 2 minute walk across the way and into the 'big shops', suddenly had to slow down cause all the shoppers seem to be moving in slow-motion... patience, patience, patience... trolleys, prams, oldies, families in packs, everything takes 3 times as long - you get the picture!  Will have to repeat on Thursday and Friday as well.

I'm so looking forward to 4 days off work....   ....   ....

All thru the fields and meadows gay  ....  Enjoy
