Not a pair of gloves or hand cleaner in sight. I did this, this morning at the U3A Art group that Wendy runs.
I know the mouth is a funny shape but otherwise I am quite pleased with this as I could never draw animals of any sort. Last time I tried a cat it looked like a RAT!!

Advice please Belle! I have been finishing off a landscape (from a photo) that I began months ago, and doing a picture of a cat for a lady who volunteers at HAPPA with me. Both of them suffered when I sprayed them, quite carefully, with fixative. I seemed to lose half of pastel I had put on. Is there something I am doing wrong, or is it inevitable? .

Did you hold the spray really close Wendy? You can redo it all on top you know. All is not lost

No Sue, I held it about 18" away, with the board flat on the floor. I left the cat as it was, but added some highlights to the landscape. I am determined to try paints instead.....mmm acrylics?

Wendy, did you have a lot of loose pastel dust on the paper? It may have been too much to fix, you always need to gently blow off loose dust before you fix. Then use an even spray about ten inches from the paper, it can be fixed more than once if the colours are dark. Did you use fixative or hairspray...it's about 40 years since I used fixative but I do remember thinking when I found hairspray it worked a lot better! I think the landscape is lovely and am really pleased to hear you fancy branching out into another medium...Go girl!

I'll get the spare beds made up, just in case. I have a few blue glass bottles and some different shaped ones. We have eaten the interesting veg!
