Hi there, I found this website and forum, thought that it looked interesting, so I signed up. Once I have had a chance to explore, I am sure that I'll have a few things to say!
All the best for the New Year.

Welcome to the site. You may be busy for a while, there is quite a lot of info in the archives! One good way to get into specific keywords is to by-pass the forum search in the drop-down menu at the top of the page which can throw up too many non-specific results. If you enter your keyword in a Google search and include the word oneguyfrombarlick it becomes site specific and takes you directly to the reference inside the body of the topic. This can save a lot of time if you are inside a topic with a lot of pages. Good luck!

Is this a person or a company advertising?

Hi everybody,
Please do not jump to conclusions - I have used the attached siginiature for long time now. To explain - the first part is in Esperanto, the general meaning is a greeting from a person habitually involved with railways (an enthusiastic railwayperson, not a gricer!). I have been very closely involved with heritage restorations for some considerable time, and now do some work for the small company and for which I administer the fotopic site. I am, by profession, a Librarian, my normal employers are firms of consulting engineers and designers. Hope this clears things a little. (please pm for more info, if you need extra)
Hope the weather is improving around your area! Regards StoneRoad

Don't worry, we don't jump to conclusions on here. If we did they would have thrown me out years since!

Hi all, I've been popping in and out to this site, but not had much opportunity to add my two penn'orth.....I've been very busy with the day job. If anyone is interested in how I've been spending my time, I update the fotopic collections about three times a month and my home page a little less often..(cough) All the best.... StoneRoad

Not that it really matters, the hyperlink www.stanegaterestorationsandreplicas.fotopic.net is pointing to http://www.oneguyfrombarlick.co.uk/www.stanegaterestorationsandreplicas.fotopic.net so it'll just bring you back to the OGFB site...

I Googled Stanegate, they appear to do some excellent restoration work on a wide variety of objects, ie Fowler steam engine, horse drawn chip van, to old scchoool notice boards

please note my reply posted on 2010 Jan 12.
I have made a few other posts in the meantime.....
but as I said in my post this morning - I have been busy with a few things at work...
However, I am glad that at least someone likes what I get up to at work. I must say that I really enjoy my job....(especially as I am a Librarian by profession!)

Mid to Late September Update
In the last week or so I have done several small updates to the fotopic collections, mainly to the Berriman's Chip Van, the Miller Fifer and NER70.
In addition, I have updated my home page and created a new fotopic collection as there is a new project underway. More details to follow, but there are only a couple of images posted so far.
Thanks for looking StoneRoad

Update for Late January 2011. Are you sitting in a warm and comfortable manner? then I’ll begin…. I had intended doing this update during the last few days in December, but as a few things were about due to happen, I let myself be persuaded to put off doing it for a little bit longer. As some of these have now been completed, I can reveal some of the recent developments. This is a summary of several recent updates, done in the last few days, and an indication of some future updates. NER70 has had a little more work, and although it is not very photogenic at this stage, a couple of images have been posted. Berriman’s Chip Van has, at last, been collected by Webster’s and should shortly be on display at Beamish. Hopefully, a few more images will become available once the Chip Shop itself is finished. Saltburn Cliff Lift After the exploratory investigations, it was decided that the best plan would be to completely rebuild the one car, whilst the other received the matching “victorianisation” as planned, during its own refurbishment. Some images have already been posted, and a few extra will be put up quite soon to show progress. The workshop fore-dog has taken early(?) retirement, and to mark his promotion to chair-dog he now has his own collection, which will be updated as I find the images. The recent weather has allowed me to add some good shots; the hoar frost was most impressive. As usual, I’ve managed to add a couple of “backdated” images, to various collections. That’s all for now, folks. If all goes according to plan, I should have some additional images to post very soon. Thanks for showing your interest - by clicking thumbnails! (You may have to wait a moment, or two, for some of the images to load) StoneRoad.
