Questions about this subject keep cropping up amid closely related topics, so I thought it may be a good idea to expand on the subject. I will not go on about my qualifications to discuss Canal Boats so lets just give it a go and see what transpires.

Hope H & E are coping with the move in this keen frost - if this continues they will have no option but to stay put - the L & L is frozen

why stay put, surely they have ice skates as any good dweller would have at this festive time , or perhaps we may have to send in the ice breaker....

Pheeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww!
Afloat at last!
Web n Walk is absolutely superb - can't get a TV signal here but T-Mobile is just the biz.
Reason for my silence? The move was horrendous. Our dream was in danger of turning into a nightmare of Biblical proportions - none of which was our fault and worse still, there was no action we could take to alter the situation as it was all in the hands of the other people involved.
I won't bang on about it here - when I've time I'll blog it.
Any road up, the happy ending is that we're on board, fairly sorted (though still loads of boxes to empty) warm, dry and comfortable. Boo is not too happy as she can't negotiate the steps and has to be carried on and off, and kept on a lead in case she wanders into the cut. She's been used to pottering about freely in her own secure garden, but she's a little champ and hopefully will soon adapt.
Haven't moved from the mooring yet - will wait till we can muster a gang to help us on the 2-day journey home. However, the boatyard people are very friendly and helpful and apart from having a TV-free Christmas (haven't missed it yet!) all is well. |

Glad to hear your'e settling in Cally, warm, dry and comfortable, main thing. I'm sure you will manage without the telly, I hav'nt even bothered looking what's on yet. Meal out tonight then pick Dan up from some railway station tomorrow night. All 3 (grown up) kids back at home plus Sal's mum on Christmas Day. Were going over to my daughter Carla's on Boxing Day, she's at Steeton. I will all be over then for another year, does'nt seem 5 minutes since last time, probably a sign of getting older. Anyway glad you are settling and Boo is'nt too put out. Compliments of the season and all that, take care.

H, glad you are finally installed and getting straight. There will be problems but leave them until after Christmas, main thing to do is have a mental and physical rest for a few days. The worst is over, the future can wait for a day or two. Love to you both, XXX

Excellent news. You're missing nothing on TV. With the exception of Dr Who and To The Manor Born on the big day, it's all repeats and not really worth bothering with IMHO.
Have a great Christmas Cally. You both deserve it

Cally, nip to the shops and get Billy Connelly and Alan Carr's new DVD's, oh and Richard Hammonds - better than anything on real TV. Have a good Christmas both of you. Nolic
