New topic intended for posting examples of all artwork.  Please post your pics here, even the ones that are in other topics.  It makes it easier for everyone to find the wonderful stuff you have already posted.

"Too late",that would be a wonderful title for the derelict house painting,"Timeless tracks" for the snow scene, both wonderful paintings Sue...

Rob,the Ellenroad painting is very good, love the houses(Ellenroad terrace),they've all gone now, quite sad,it was a lovely little cobbled street that led you to the main gates...

Love the perspective and shading of your painting Sue.

Is there actually smoke emitting from the chimneys that maybe the scanning process has missed?

If you were trudging up that road in the freezing cold, I imagine a smoking chimney would be saying 'Welcome Home'.

There isn't any smoke but it would be agood idea, I'll have alook and see if it would work. The painting feels appropriate. It snowed last night!!!!

Now there's a bit of elbow room at home (no3 son has gone to uni) I might have a bash at this painting malarky. As soon as I've finished decorating the bedroom.
Where can I get a "starter" kit? I like the look of oil painting, will acrylic paint give me the same effect?
I'll be copying from photographs.

Yes B G acrylica will give you the same effect but you have to work quickly or it dries. You can get some acrylics that are a bit like watercolours and you can add agents that slow the drying process, and others that thicken them up if you want. Bob Ross oils are different from others because they can be layered up, wet on wet, straight away. traditional oils have to be left to harden after a few layers. Bob Ross does a starte kit, I got mine on line through ebay, direct from the States. It was alot cheaper than here. There is a starter video, and you can buy a basic book of pictures and techniques...I'll check the name. You can get the paints and cheap canvasses from Boundary Mill

Kev, the big advantage of acrylics is that you can use them both with a watercoloour technique and as if they were oils using them undiluted. For under £15.00 SAA are selling a set of 12 paints + insructional video
http://www.saa.co.uk/artsupplies/atelier-interactive-acrylics-20ml-tubes-set-of-12--979073.html       . A couple of brushes, an old white palte and some cheap watercolour paper and you are away.
Boundary Mill is very expensive for art gear and they have no decent brushes!! Nolic

Kev, I don't know if you have the shop RANGE near you, but that has good brushes that aren't too expensive. There is also a good  craft and Art shop in Ramsbottom but maybe that is too far from you. I must admit i tend to buy most of my Art stuff from the SAA as I get a big discount being a member. You can also buy online from Ken Bromley in Bolton but it does tend to be expensive. What about  HobbyCraft, too
