Daughter Janet in Oz was making her mince pies and asked me for my instant pastry recipe. They will be good pies! Nice when father is consulted for recipes! My Christmas dinner, a sirloin steak for a big butty, is marinading as I write. Lunch will be a bacon butty.

All went well 'til I OD'd on a tin of shortbread I was given. When will I learn?

Guess what - cold turkey with all the usual trimmings.  Had a lovely turkey dinner at our grandaughter's yesterday - in fact a lovely day all round.

Went to work for 03.30;left at 12.30 and came home. Turned down a trip to the local hostellery and fiddled about in a  houseworkish style. Felt rather jaded at 15.30 and went to bed. Missed dinner altogether. Just got up. Don't fancy checking out the microwave now....

Funny hours you work Jules, reminds me of when I was tanking milk for same morning delivery. Bacon butty at dinnertime, black pudding and egg butty for tea.

Out at Chubby's Chippy on the square in Albert Road. Mushy Peas, Onion Rings and Potato Cakes with Red Cola from a Scotland based producer.

Rest of family had the Standard Cod with the Gluten Free Batter ( at no extra price and all day unlike some outlets ) chips peas and cuppa tea.  Eat in part all nicely decorated for current seasonal times , friendly and prompt service and all priced quite affordable.  Cat finished up the rather substantial tail end of fish overnight. ( Cat alway disappointed if we go out and dont come back with something interestingly edible for her )

Ghulam at Chaudrey's sold me the last of the Russet apples at half price, he knows I eat a lot of them. Alays sad when the Russets finish, my favourite apple......

Family cooked me Stuffed Peppers: Rice , Mushrooms , Cream , tinned tomatoes  Garlic for me , with added small cubed beef for them all with a nicely colourful  All sourced from Co-Op , comment from the cook that Co-op have a really good range of gluten free products- looks to have been expanded to include fruit loaf now  exceeding normal source down south range of items in an area of much higher population.

Pork and bean casserole will bite the dust today. I'm feeling a bit better today and suspect that something in the tin of shortbread didn't like me!
