Being rather neurotic, and because my normal name is allied to my email address, I have adopted a new user name for this site as I may want to get some (non OGFB) stuff off my chest. My location is of a very flat and norfolk broads location. My old name was eiluJ reversed. Hello friends. Today I was suspended from work and am feeling rather unhappy. IMHO this is scape goat finding and I need somewhere to get this off my chest.

Tell us about the suspension so we can commiserate with you. If you are who I think you are this could be interesting!

Sounds like you haven't been able to put your side of the story to your employers..er thingy, whoever you are..I would advise writing it all down before you vent on here, then sleeping on it before you say things publicly you may regret..just a thought.

Welcome back ----- From Norfolk. Sound advice from Belle, venting can leave one wide open to verbal abuse.

Very good advice Belle and exactly what I have done, only problem is that no definitive explanation has been forthcoming therefore no logic or argument can be proffered. What I have done is put a lot of what positive things I have done and achieved onto paper and I feel a whole lot better about myself and a whole lot more confident about which direction this has come from. Funny it has happened whilst my boss is on holiday!

Wait till your boss is back Julie then perhaps things will be explained to him by whoever instigated this.

Delaying tactics in hand. Although I am supposed to keep myself available during my standard hours, I think a day or two hol is in order.

Sounds to me like they want to have the cake and eat it, and be careful, it also smacks of constructive dismissal.

Jules, the thing that strikes me is where did job security go? I think that I might have been protected by having hard and low-paid jobs but with long hours so the totals could be made up. Bottom line was nobody else wanted to pinch my job!

Belle's advice is good. Don't get mad, get even. Think carefully, don't give anything away and make it as difficult as possible to get rid of you. Put communications in writing and post registered delivery, keep a pearl harbour file. Be more clever than them!

Could not have put it better myself Stanley, obstacles are being put in my way, I just have to stay calm, cool and collected. Their obstacles may prove to be to my benefit.

If you have not already then seek the advice of a Union. They will represent you (the appropriate one) even if you are not a member. Always useful in performance management situations.

J ...keep a detailed written account of events as they happen !

Probably best in Diary form , dates and times are important , as "the opposition" might not expect a measured and accurate response .

All future  correspondence should be sent "Signed for " at least , and if any meetings are arranged , don't go alone ....T's advice about the Union , is spot on....

All this advice has actually been covered above

.....just to add

In any "tricky" situation , NEVER laugh (at all ...ever)  ...... it's always misinterpreted.

As an aside, and it might give you a moment of levity J, your advice is good Bradders: my husband was once interviewed for a job in a hotel bedroom where the interviewers, 2 men, sat on one bed and he sat on the other..when it came to the question " What is the most uncomfortable situation you have ever found your self in?"    the answer "well this is rating pretty high on the list!" did not go down well! As you say bradders, humour is not appreciated in some quarters!
