Printable Version Proposed security fence at the fire station

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Authority are proposing to erect a security fence 15 feet high around the fire station.  I have registered an objection to this on the grounds that:-

It is a brutal erection that will be visible from the centre of Barnoldswick.

It is totally unecessary and will not be affective if, as is the case at present, the back gate of the station is permanently unlocked and usually wide open.

The planning authority tell me that they have spoken to the Authority but no new proposal has been authorised, therefore we must assume that they are proceeding with the original scheme.  The Authority state that they have 'security issues' at the fire station.

There is a meeting on site at the rear of the station in Co-operative Street at 2pm on Tuesday 6th of April.  I intend to be there and make my views known.  If you want to avoid an ugly and depressing addition to our townscape come along and have your say.  I doubt if this will be advertised.

I went to the meeting on Wed. and put my views to the representatives of the fire brigade. I think we may see a less intrusive proposal because Janet Filbin from Pendle assures me they are objecting as well. She looks quite capable of standing her corner!
